Breathe In… Sing Out!  – October 2015

Thank you to everyone that supported our first flagship event in 2015 – from our audience members and volunteers to the amazingly talented music acts; you’re all super stars!

We have always had a musical connection and found that singing is such great physio for Matt’s son. With this in mind, we decided to use music to help raise vital funds for local Cystic Fibrosis services.

About Cystic Fibrosis

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust defines CF as: “an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food.”

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis but many treatments are available to manage it, including physiotherapy, exercise, medication and nutrition.

Each week five babies are born with cystic fibrosis, and two people die. More than half of the cystic fibrosis population in the UK will live past 41, and improved care and treatments mean that a baby born today is expected to live even longer.

Organ Donation

Many people with CF will reach the point where they need a lung transplant to prolong their life. This referral usually takes place when their lung function falls to about 30%.  You can help – sign up for organ donation.
